Thousands of vehicles got stuck in heavy traffic on an artery bridge leading to downtown Ho Chi Minh City at rush hour on Friday.
The Saigon Bridge, a major thoroughfare crossing the Saigon River that connects District 2 and Binh Thanh District, saw an influx of traffic this morning as thousands were trapped in severe congestion during their commute.
The kilometer-long line of immobilized vehicles stretched from the Saigon Bridge to the intersection of Dien Bien Phu Street and D1 Street in Binh Thanh District.
Motorbike riders zigzagged their way through the gaps between larger vehicles, turning the site into a chaotic scene.
District authorities shortly dispatched traffic police to the site to regulate traffic, who were able to ease the congestion by 9:00 am the same day.
