Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has been named a world leader for peace and development by a U.S.-based forum that is dedicated to world peace and international cooperation.
Boston Global Forum said on December 8 that the Vietnamese premier and Germany’s Chancellor Angela Merkel are the recipients of the World Leader for Peace, Security and Development Award.
This award is granted to individuals who have had outstanding contributions to peace and security, within their country and abroad, the forum said.
Japan’s Prime Minister Shinzo Abe is the recipient of the World Leader in Cybersecurity Award, which is presented to individuals whose outstanding contributions have helped spur the advancement of cybersecurity, it added.
The award recipients were selected by a committee of scholars and public officials, guided by nominations from political, media, academic, and civic leaders.
Boston Global Forum will announce the awards at its Global Cybersecurity Day, which will be held on December 12 at 10:00 am at the Harvard University Faculty Club.
A preliminary announcement will occur on December 11 at 10:00 pm, which is 12:00 noon, December 12-Tokyo time.
Based in Boston, Massachusetts, Boston Global Forum was founded in 2012 to bring together thought leaders and experts from around the globe to participate in open public forums to discuss and illuminate the most critical issues affecting the world at large, it said on its website.
The forum has operated for the betterment of society at the global level in world peace, international cooperation, and human rights, the website says.
It invites nominations and applications from individuals and organizations worldwide who believe they could make thoughtful contributions to its discussions, the forum said.
