There has been no report of Vietnamese casualties in the recent fighting in eastern Ukraine, Vietnam’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has confirmed, adding that it has asked the Vietnamese Embassy in Ukraine to evacuate Vietnamese citizens from dangerous areas.

The ministry’s spokesman Le Hai Binh made the confirmation in Hanoi on Wednesday in response to questions by reporters on the situation of Vietnamese communities in conflict-stricken Ukraine.
Binh said the ministry has asked the Vietnamese Embassy in Ukraine to closely follow up the situation and take measures to ensure security and safety of the Vietnamese community in the east European country.

The ministry also asked the embassy to quickly evacuate Vietnamese citizens from dangerous areas in eastern Ukraine, the diplomat also said.

The embassy is closely coordinating with Vietnamese associations in Ukraine in ensuring safety in life and property for the Vietnamese community and in giving support to them to help them stabilize their life.

The embassy has also called on Vietnamese people in the affected areas to stand in unity and give mutual support, as well as take measures to protect safety of their lives and assets, he said.

The embassy is ready to offer support to Vietnamese people who are facing unforeseen problems or want to return to Vietnam, the spokesman said.
