Christmas is coming and the Consular Club wishes to send its greetings to locals through the International Charity Bazaar on Saturday at the White Palace Convention Center in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
All visitors are welcome to the 21st annual event from 9:30 am to 2:30 pm at the venue, located at 194 Hoang Van Thu Street, Ward 9, Phu Nhuan District.
At the event, visitors will have both fun and chances to contribute to the community by buying raffle tickets for VND50,000 (US$2.4) each to win lucky prizes such as airline tickets, resort stays, spa packages, and more.
Every prize in the raffle is valued at more than $100.
Santa Claus will be there to have his photo taken with participants, bringing the festive atmosphere of Christmas to the event.
The bazaar will continue the tradition of selling goods, food and drinks from all over the world for a worthy cause. Proceeds from the bazaar are distributed to help the less fortunate in the community.
This is a chance for all participants to go “shopping for a good cause by shopping to make a difference” to welcome the holiday season.
It is expected that the bazaar will attract more than the 2,100 visitors who attended last year’s event. Entry to the bazaar is VND100,000 ($4.8) for adults, and children under 10 accompanied by an adult can enter free of charge.
Projects supported by the Consular Club using funds generated from the bazaar include scholarships, medical care, improved rainwater purification, flood relief, and much more.
The International Charity Bazaar is organized by members of the Consular Club, an organization composed of members from the 20 consular missions and trade representatives in Ho Chi Minh City.
All Consular Club members volunteer their time to work toward improving the quality of life of the disadvantaged in Vietnam.
So far, the Consular Club has funded over 24 projects including the building of bridges, the issuing of scholarships, the provision of computers for training blind people, and the digging and installation of water wells in schools to provide clean, running water for the children.
Founded in 1994, the club comprises people from all countries which are represented by a consular mission in Ho Chi Minh City to work on a non-profit basis to make a contribution to the community.
