Hundreds of Dong Ho and Hang Trong folk paintings are now on show at an exhibition in Hanoi to welcome the Tet holiday which is a few days away.
The event, held by Hanoi's Old Quarter’s management board, aims to bring the Tet atmosphere to the area as well as create a chance for people to know more about the famous genres of Vietnamese traditional painting. The paintings are drawn with images which are close to the Vietnam’s peaceful villages like buffalo, bamboo, etc.
The event will run at 87 Ma May Street until February 16.
Meanwhile in Ho Chi Minh City, another exhibition featuring best photos which win a spring-themed contest is also ongoing to celebrate the occasion.
Titled “Lunar New year 2014,” the competition organized by the Photographic Association of HCMC has chosen Tran Dac Hung’s “Hoang Hon Tren Kenh Tau Hu” (Sunset on Tau Hu channel), Nguyen Tan Ghi’s “Da Lat Than Yeu” (Beloved Da lat) and Nguyen Anh Tuan’s “Tranh Dau” (Fighting) its winning photos.
The contest attracted 1,245 photos from 165 photographers from 24 cities and provinces across the country.
100 photos picked up from the competition will be displayed at the association at 122 Suong Nguyet Anh Street in District 1 until February 15.
