The elephants came to the village at 3am the same day. The locals tried to drive away the elephants back to the forest by the sound of gongs and drums but elephants were not afraid of noises and did not move out of the area.
When being chased, an elephant returned to attack people but it was lucky that nobody was injured.
The Ea Sup District People's Committee evacuated 10 households in the area to other places and warned people not to cross the road in this area to avoid unfortunate incidents.
In one day the elephants destroyed a large area of crops in the area. This is the first time wild elephants appearing in Ea Sup town.
Some people said that they saw these elephants seeking for food around the Upper Ea Sup Lake but now all crops have been harvested so the elephants could not find food and they moved to the lower Ea Sup Lake, where has many upland rice and cassava fields.
Despite the rain, local forces of Ea Sup district tried to drive away and prevent the elephants from moving deeply into the residential areas in order to ensure safety for local residents and their property.
