 Vietnamese fantasy movie Lua Phat distributed in North America

Film distributors from the North American market have agreed to buy copyright of Vietnam’s first fantasy film Lua Phat (Once upon a time in Vietnam) by Vietnamese-American Dustin Nguyen.

Additionally, Nguyen is in the process of negotiating with numerous film distributors from New Zealand, Australia, Germany, South Korea, India and Thailand, according to BHD Co., Ltd.
The movie which hit local cinemas last week was created after five years by director/script-writer/leading actor Dustin Nguyen. It tells a story about Vietnam in an undefined time where the country is threatened by an enemy with warriors sacrificing their lives and love for peace.
“I’m excited with this news. I expected to bring this movie to audiences in Asian and European and American markets since the day I wrote the script. This is one of the successes for the Lua Phat movie-making team,” said Nguyen in a statement.
Previously, the film attracted around 6,000 people to join its special screenings on August 20-21, held before it was officially released.
The movie has the participation of Hollywood action actor/fight choreographer Roger Yuan (Shanghai Noon, Lethal Weapon 4 and Batman Begins) and local stars like Ngoc Diep, Thai Hoa, Hieu Hien and Phi Thanh Van.
