Hau Giang: Deputy Chief of Anti-Corruption Steering Board disciplined

Several officials of the southern province of Hau Giang, including Mr. Nguyen Van Thang, former deputy chief of the Anti-Corruption Steering Board, have been disciplined by the provincial Party Committee.
In the afternoon of July 22, Mr. Le Van Phuong, deputy head of the Inspection Committee of Hau Giang Province Party Committee, announced the provincial Party Committee’s decisions on disciplinary forms imposed on some local officials.
Accordingly, the Hau Giang Party Committee gives a warning to Mr. Do Chieu Quy, a member of the Hau Giang Provincial Party Committee, director of the local Department of Information and Communications and reprimands Mr. Nguyen Tuan Kiet and Mr. Nguyen Phong Linh, deputy directors of the Department of Information and Communications.
According to Hau Giang’s inspectors, from 2009 to September 2012, Quy was irresponsible in management, causing financial violations worth nearly VND1 billion ($50,000), of which VND450 million must be recovered to the State budget.
The same day, the Inspectorate of Hau Giang Provincial Party Committee also gave a warning to Mr. Nguyen Van Thang, Party Secretarty and former deputy head of the Anti-Corruption Steering Committee and chief of this committee office.
According to inspectors, Thang used a public car for his personal business during holiday. This official also drove a car after drinking, causing a traffic accident.
