Ha Tinh’s tallest building on fire, 1 dead

A big fire on Tuesday hit the 16-storey BMC shopping mall, the tallest building in the central province of Ha Tinh, killing one and causing widespread panic among hundreds of people.
According to initial information, 29-year-old Pham Xuan Truong died from suffocation at hospital.
The fire broke out at around 10:30 am and quickly engulfed the fourth floor of the mall where a cafeteria and a cinema are located, sending large plumes of black smoke into the air.
After being informed, firefighters and military forces were deployed to the scene. All goods on the second floor were brought outside.
One hour later, the fire was under control but some service businesses on the fourth floor were burnt to the ground.
The fire was caused by an electric short circuit, according to an investigation by Tuoi Tre reporters at the scene.
