 Australian aircraft carrier docks Ho Chi Minh City

PANO - A light aircraft carrier of the Royal Australian Navy, “HMAS Sydney”, carrying 229 troops on board, anchored at Ho Chi Minh City Port on October 29th, to start its six-day visit to the city.

Colonel Ha Xuan Xu, a representative from the Naval Command, welcomed HMAS Sydney’s captain, Colonel Luke Charles Jones and other Australian guests.

During the visit, the crew will lay a wreath at President Ho Chi Minh’s Statue and pay courtesies to the City People’s Committee, the Military Zone 7 Command and the Southern Naval Command.
During their stay, they will share their experiences on operating helicopters on battleships with Vietnamese troops, participate in sporting exchanges with the Naval Technique School and the Ho Chi Minh City RMIT University, and tour some famous sites and historical relic sites in the city.

A group of disabled students from the Vietnam-Australia Loreto Group - funded Binh Minh School, will have the opportunity to visit the “HMAS Sydney”, when in port.
The visit is a contribution to strengthening the friendship between the two countries in general, and the two sides’ navies in particular.
